Windows XP - Docking the Quick Launch Bar

This tutorial demonstrates docking the Quick Launch bar on top of the taskbar in Windows XP. Now, this may not appear to be groundbreaking or difficult and from all appearances would barely qualify as a trick. BUT, if you are at all skeptical, before you watch the presentation, just try to dock the Quick Launch bar on top the taskbar. It doesn't want to do it, does it?

A point that you may argue is that the Quick Launch bar already integrates nicely into the taskbar so the exercise is pointless. Well, that is a matter of opinion and personal preference. When you integrate the Quick Launch bar into the taskbar, you lose a lot of space, or you need to expand the items to see them. The open programs interfere with the layout of the Quick Launch icons to the effect of eating space. By docking the Quick Launch bar above the taskbar, you leave all the taskbar space to deal only with open programs and the Quick Launch bar maintains its own thin line neatly above the taskbar, always in view, even whilst programs are maximised.

This layout is particularly good for displays larger than 1024x768. Lower resolutions will suffer from the space loss, but it can still be workable depending on the type of software you frequently use.
